I am a foodie and have loved cooking for as long as I can remember. It has always been the one thing that takes my mind off things and helps me clear my head before I can focus on upcoming challenges.
Trying and cooking food from different cultures is my favorite way of discovering how other people live. Access to recipes from all over the world is the new normal nowadays. Therefore, cooking is much more diverse and lets you be creative.
Nevertheless, Slovenia’s gastronomy has never made a considerable mark outside the borders of our country. Although understandable due to its role in the world, I believe it a pity that foreigners rarely get to try authentic Slovenian delicacies.

By founding Cooking Class Ljubljana, I wanted to give the tourists a chance to get a first-hand experience of preparing and enjoying a typical Slovenian meal.
Ana Roš, a Slovenian cook, was the one who cemented Slovenia’s place on the world’s gastronomic map after being voted as the World’s Best Female Chef in 2017. Her restaurant Hiša Franko has consistently been featured on the list of the world’s 50 best restaurants and boasts two Michelin stars.
Famous for only using fresh local ingredients in her seasonal dishes, it speaks abundantly about Slovenia’s potential in cookery.
Local delicacies such as Carniolan Sausage, Cheese Rolled Dumplings, Nut Rolls, Yota, and Idrija Dumplings are just some of the many you can get acquainted with in Slovenia. And knowing how to prepare them is an especially good-to-have skill.
We also must not forget about Slovenian wine. Whether a drop of red or white, local wineries have something to go well alongside every dish.
